Billing Specialist

We are currently seeking a Billing Specialist position to join our practice. This is a Full Time W2 position that requires 40 hours a week between the hours of 8am-6pm EST M-F. We are currently looking for candidates with an openness to work in a remote setting. Candidates need access to an updated computer, high-speed internet access, a smartphone, and a quiet space to work. The Billing Specialist must reside in Florida, USA. Please do not apply if you do not live in Flrorida.


The Billing Specialist must be committed to processing billing in a timely manner, assisting our clients with their billing needs, and have an interest in working with mental health. Prior experience working with billing in a clinical setting is a plus. Familiarity with processing claims and verifying benefits is preferred. This position requires availability to assist with claim denials, process pending claims, and regularly communicate with staff and clients regarding billing matters, Monday through Friday.

Reports to: Billing Manager




 
The primary responsibilities include verifying insurance benefits, managing interactions with insurance providers, and addressing billing inquiries from clients and insurance companies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing procedures, as well as experience with insurance reimbursement methodologies. Exceptional organizational and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to ensure accurate and timely billing processes.

Hours: 40 hours a week. Hours are flexible, but must be between the hours of 8am-6pm EST

Compensation: $43,000-$47,000 a year depending on experience

Location: Florida, United States (required)





  • Verify Insurance Benefits via relevant online portals.
  • Call Insurance companies to clarify benefit information as needed.
  • Read and interpret insurance explanations of benefits correctly.
  • Complete Benefit Summary Verification/Shared Cost Estimate form and send to client.
  • Enter/update Insurance Verification information on relevant EHR platforms and systems. 
  • Follow up with Client Care Director regarding insurance verifications.
  • Follow up with Client Care Director around client co-pays and deductibles.
  • Maintain client files with up-to-date insurance information.
  • Maintain highly organized insurance records.
  • Learning new portals with new insurance contracts.
  • Helping to ensure all staff directories are attested and up to date.
  • Assist with submission of claims daily; ensure claims submitted in a timely manner
  • Review claims during shift; correct all claims on electronic CMS 1500 format as needed. 
  • Review all ERA’s/EOB’s received / manage any issues or concerns
  • Maintain a record of insurance claim issues to report to the Supervisor.
  • File claims to ensure maximum entitled reimbursement.
  • Complete Good Faith Estimates as needed for self pay clients.
  • Enter insurance payments and allocate them correctly in EHR.
  • Follow up with Client Care Coordinator /Director around client co-pays and deductibles as needed.
  • Ensure Superbills are being sent to clients that request.
  • Enter insurance information into EHR system
  • Follow up with all clients that are behind on payments, arrange any payment plans and ensure to collect new card payment if expired or is not working.
  • Conduct and regulate job duties in a professional manner to maintain and increase the goodwill and reputation of Restored Purpose Counseling.

Qualifications: 

  • BA/BS, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred, but not required
  • Medical Billing Certificate or equivalent  
  • 1+ years direct billing experience in a medical setting

  • Must be punctual in reporting to work.
  • Be organized and detail oriented.
  • Be a team player.
  • Be able to work independently on tasks assigned.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.


Ideal candidates will have:

  • Availability and interest in working 40 hours per week and available Monday-Friday to answer billing questions.
  • Ideal candidates should have at least one-year of experience in a clinical or outpatient setting working with billing. 
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively with the team and build strong rapport
  • The ability to work supervise a small team of billing coordinators 
  • A willingness to receive and integrate feedback
  • A commitment to learning about and being open to the billing practices utilized by Restored Purpose

Individual counseling

Our therapists in central Florida and beyond use a variety of therapeutic techniques to help best serve the unique needs of each individual client. We offer supervision as a part of working with Restored Purpose. Provisionally licensed staff may only work in person at one of our offices.
