Therapy and nutrition sessions work closely together in supporting eating disorder recovery for children and adolescents. Through consistent individual sessions—often held weekly—we help young clients challenge harmful societal messages, navigate the tough moments, and begin to build a healthier relationship with food and their bodies. Our approach is age-appropriate, supportive, and centered on each child’s unique needs.
Mealtimes can be especially challenging for children and teens recovering from an eating disorder, but you don’t have to navigate them alone. Our team offers specialized meal support—whether in our office kitchen, virtually, or in real-world settings—to help young clients build confidence and reduce anxiety around food. This support might include cooking together, trying challenge foods, or simply practicing sitting through a meal with guidance. Meal support is available as a stand-alone service to complement your child’s overall treatment plan.
Adolescents often heal best when they feel understood and supported by peers who share similar experiences. At Restored Purpose Counseling, we offer group therapy for teens to create a sense of community, connection, and encouragement throughout the recovery journey. These groups provide a safe space to share, grow, and navigate challenges together with guidance from our experienced clinicians.

What eating disorders do you treat?
Our team specializes in helping children and adolescents who are struggling with eating disorders. We work closely with young clients facing challenges like anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, ARFID, orthorexia, and other forms of disordered eating. Our compassionate therapists and dietitians are highly trained to support kids and their families on the path to healing in a way that’s age-appropriate, empowering, and supportive.
Why is having a therapist and a dietitian important?
Eating disorders can affect not only your child’s thoughts and emotions but also their physical health and nutritional well-being. Having a coordinated treatment team is essential to ensure they are receiving proper nourishment and staying medically stable. Our dietitian will focus on your child’s nutritional needs, while their therapist will support them in working through the emotional and mental challenges related to the eating disorder and any co-occurring concerns. Our team members communicate closely with one another to provide the highest quality of care for your child.
Do you take my insurance?
The insurances we accept at this time are United Health Care, Florida Blue, Aetna, & Cigna. United Healthcare may include UMR, AvMed, Oscar, and Optum as long as the mental health services are billed through United Healthcare. Dietitian services are covered under Aetna and Self-Pay. If we do not take your insurance, please reach out. We are happy to provide a superbill so that you can receive reimbursement for our services from your insurance provider.
Do you offer in person sessions in my area?
We have in person options available in the Jacksonville area, Winter Park and Lakeland area. We are able to serve all of FL via virtual sessions if you are outside these areas, as well as GA, NJ, TX, VA, MI, SC, and MA.
What ages do you see?
We work with clients of all ages, starting as young as 5 years old. If your child is in need of therapy, nutrition support, or medication management, our team is here to help.
My child has never been to therapy. What is it like?
Starting therapy can feel uncertain at first, but our goal is to make your child feel safe, supported, and understood. In the first few sessions, the therapist will focus on building trust and getting to know your child through conversation, play, or creative activities depending on their age. We tailor each session to be developmentally appropriate, ensuring that the therapeutic approach matches your child’s stage of growth and unique needs. Therapy provides a space where your child can explore their thoughts and feelings, learn healthy coping skills, and work through challenges at their own pace. We also involve parents or caregivers as needed to support progress at home and in daily life.
